Long time no music! Today’s post is a dedication to all who have lost a loved one.

Well, a song played on my Portal the other day and when I was listening to it, I instantly thought of my father whom I lost unexpectedly March 20th 2021. I took a look at the screen to check out the name of the song, and a picture of my dad and son on Christmas Day was displayed on my portal. Tears instantly started to build until my eyes couldn’t hold them any longer. It just seemed so perfect that the song started to play with a photo of two of the most precious people in my life. It’s only been a few months of losing my father and as I’ve been trying not to break down from it, I have to say that cry felt good (followed by wine, of course). It really had me thinking, if ever I could see my Dad again I’d give him the biggest hug and tell him thank you for his constant love and support.

It’s times like those that even though I’m so unbelievably sad inside, I also feel some sort of Peace knowing that my dad is with me. My dad is watching over me and my family and that gives me comfort at the end of the day. Today’s song is the song that was playing on my portal, “If Ever” by Paula Fuga with Jack Johnson (featuring Ben Harper). Lyrics below to see how moving and beautifully written it is.

If ever, if ever I could see you again, mmm-hmm
If ever, if ever I could see you again, mmm-hmm
Won’t you take me back to where we used to play?
Hang on every word, hang on every moment
I know you’re in between now and I know you can’t stay
Give me one more rising sun, just one more setting moment
It felt so bright, I had to turn away
Turn back around and the moment had been stolen
You make magic out of nothing, you make my fears go away
But who will make the words, or find the answers for them?
If ever, if ever I could see you again, mmm-hmm
If ever, if ever I could see you again, mmm-hmm
Hand made mornings, trails we walked on
Pain that shapes us, like rain on rocks now
Changing faces, are woven in my
Future I see, don’t say it out loud
Shaped from too much, I miss you most times
Or the ideals of you fall through my mind
Thoughts I can’t lose, I sometimes try to
Hold what I can, if I can’t hold you
If ever, if ever I could see you again, mmm-hmm
If ever, if ever I could see you again, mmm-hmm
If ever, if ever I could see you again, mmm-hmm
If ever, if ever I could see you again, mmm-hmm
